Fishhead Village

I describe this picture as the Fish Head Village because it is famous for its 焦滩鱼头street restaurants. Its actual name is Jiaotan Village of Jiaotan Township, Suichang, in Zhejiang Province. The Village is located in the upper reaches of Wuxi River from which the fish is harvested for the restaurants. The mountains facing the village houses make a scenic sight with the river.

The poem aptly describes the essence of the painting.

Morning Wakes the Village

Over the hills morning clouds gracefully dance

Such serenity worth more than only glance

The stream adds colours to the serenity

Bears witness in reflection of such beauty

Villagers are proud of their heritage

Its serenity never fades from age to age

Inheritance passed through generations 

Never in contest for one’s own possession
