Balinese Dancer

This painting captured the beauty of a Balinese lady performing the traditional dance unique in Bali Island, Indonesia.

There are different forms of the dance, some performing religious functions whilst others are for entertainment purposes and tourist attractions. The dances are ancient, tracing back to the 8th Century and recognised by UNESCO as a cultural heritage.   

Gracefulness and a mystic look were the objectives of this painting. The dancer portraying a sense of confidence in expressive hand and eye movements. The head dress and costumes were painted in vivid colours that you sense the shine in them.
